Unable to get % in male/female bar chart

like the title says.

I have done a bar chart for male and female by bar chart -- although it shows the actual number on each bar -- what i need is percentages.

However i AM able to get percentages when using pie charts.

any advise is appreciated

In the chart expert->advanced layout->show value->set summary operation->check "show as percentage of: "

One last thing,

how do i get the % symbol in the chart?
I tried chart expert, options, show value - 100% -- but i get a number like 7,596.2% -- instead of something like 76%

when i do a pie chart -- in the Legend section i see a "layout" where i can choose percentage.

BUT when i choose bar chart instead i am not able to see a "layout " and so cannot choose percentages --

but i need to show that the value on the bar chart is a %.

any help is appreciated
