when V7 checks my local network for Update Packages it reports back that its "unable to find a valid repository".
Which files specifically are to be in my repository to update the dats for our corporation?
thanks.

I think i posted incorrectly, what i'm looking for is what files i need to copy to my local server in order for Enterprise to update from my local server. its no longer the SDat.exe and i can't figure it out.

thanks.

Just pull the DAT down from NAI and copy what they send??? I'm not sure if I fully understand what you are wanting.

Short answer:
Go to:
ftp://ftp.nai.com/CommonUpdater/
Mirror that directory and its subdirectories, and you'll have a valid repository for both VSE 7 and VS 4.51.

Long answer:
VSE 7 looks for SiteStat.xml and catalog.z in the target directory. After checking SiteStat.xml to see if the repository is enabled and up to date, it checks catalog.z to see what products the repository supports. Then, it looks for updates to each of these. If you're mirroring the aforementioned ftp site, this includes:

1) Scanning engine
2) DATs

For DATs, it goes to the subdirectory Current\VSCANDAT1000\DAT\0000 and checks PkgCatalog.z to see how this 'product' gets updated. Update.ini and delta.ini to determine which files to use, *.upd for incrementals, dat-xxxx.zip for large changes.

For the engine, it goes to the subdirectory Current\VSCANENG1000\Engine\0000, checks PkgCatalog.z, etc.

I'm not sure exactly what role the xxxDet.mcs and xxxInstall.mcs play, but you'll need them.
