An issue with Crystal Reports has been identified. Individuals using Crystal Reports (Version 10 Developer SP3) running on a WindowsXP workdstation are no longer able to EXPORT a report to Word, PDF, EXCEL, etc. This issue does not impact the ability to create, update or run reports and does not impact Crystal Reports users that are still running Windows 2000 or any reports running on the Crystal Enterprise server. This issue appears to have surfaced after the October patches to the desktops. Is anybody else having this problem or have solution?

Please describe thsi more fully, does unable mean that they receive an error, or the formats aren't available for export, or the users are so incredibly thick that they are unable to select those options ;)

One option you might try is right clicking the CRW32.EXE and select Properties->Compatibility->Run This Program in Compatibility Mode for Windows 2000.

I've no idea if this will help, as you didn't explain what is happening, only that they can't.

This solution is isggested for some CR 8.5 concerns, and may not help with any CR 10 concerns.

Good thing to remember for Windows XP boxes using older software.

I had this problem and the way I resolve dit was to reinstall the original export dll's from the install CD.

go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Crystal Decisions\2.5\bin folder and remove the export dll's

crxf_pdf.dll
crxf_pdf_res_en.dll
crxf_xls.dll
crxf_xls_res_en.dll
crxf_rtf.dll
crxf_rtf_res_en.dll
crxf_wordw.dll
crxf_wordw_res_en.dll
crxf_html.dll
crxf_html_res_en.dll

I suggest you make a copy of these files before you remove them.

Once removed open CR and export a report, CR will then reinstall the required export dll's.

Sorry Vampire,

Like most, my users are thick but not that thick. These happen to be developer types that are running CR Developer from their desktop.

The ERROR occurs after selecting the EXPORT Option, format option, then GO. The system then pops up a message box with the "Unable to Export" message. If the Word or Excel format is selected Crystal MAY create an empty Word or Excel file. Nothing is created if PDF is selected. Although I don't remember under what circumstances this occurs some workstations also may get a reference to the CRW32.EXE though it is inconsistant and does not occur every time or on every PC.

I beleive Gary's solution has the similar effect as my workaround which was to uninstall Crystal Reports and reinstall WITH NO SERVICE PACKS. As soon as I install any of the service packs (1, 2 or 3), the problem returns.
