I have been tasked with setting up a merlin legends phone system for our business. The owner doesn't want to bring our current system down until we can basically "plug and play." I haven't been able to get winspm 9.0 to connect to merlin. This is my first merlin legends system, do I need the phone lines connected to use winspm? If not, what is required, I have read through the forums and cant find anything wrong with the winspm setup or hardware setup, but obviously something is wrong. Thanks for any guidance.

Which method are you using to connect to the processor?

An adapter with custom pinout is required to connect to the Legend and Magix processors and voicemails. Are you using such an adapter? An alternative would be to use the processor's built in dialup modem.

I have the adapter(looks like an LPT plug with a COM cable wired into it), and I have the PC which was configured to work with it, but it doesn't wan to connect anymore. I had tried setting up a new pc and connecting via modem and adapter, but I don't fully understand how to set it up. I have all the original programming and operation documentation, but it just says "connect to pc." Any help is much appreciated. :)

If the system has a voicemail (Merlin Mail or Merlin Messaging) you could use dial up to access the processor. Are either of these present [ponder]

I'm headed off to vacation in a couple minutes unfortunately (fortunately?) I will post more info when i get back with pics of the modules we have. Thanks.

Good Morning,
Here is a picture of the modules we have installed.

Some clarification Q&A
1. I have noticed a lot of people say to use "dial up," do i need an active phone line to program the system?
2. Do I dial in through the admin port?
3. Are there any good step by step tutorials or videos that I could reference?

I'm a web technician and this is a little outside my realm.

Thanks for any help.

The issue is I cant get WINSPM to connect direct to the admin port. Is there another "console?

WinSPM also allows for dialup access. There is no dedicated line needed. You set up WinSPM to call one of the phone numbers answered by the auto attendant, add delay to allow for the A.A. to answer followed by the processor's extension. I don't have access to my notes right now to post the extension number.

SUCCESS! I discovered that the previous admin had built a custom 9 pin reducer. I reconfigured it and it is now working, thanks for everyone's help!
