Hi All,

I mounted a WIC-1DSU-T1-V2 in Cisco 1721, but after i power-on the router it's still showing only 1 Serial interface.

Is there some special configuration that I need to be able to detect the new WIC-1DSU-T1-V2?

Thanks,
Ciscomeo

Your IOS may not support the module. Although the 1721 should recognize the WIC on POST, if the IOS isn't compatible, the module won't work. You can try reseating the module (power off) but I suspect you'll need an IOS upgrade. Also, check the DRAM requirements as well.

I rebooted the route again and its showing the VPN module. Is this the one, i thought it will show up as interface Serial 0?

Below is the show version of the router.

Your router does support that version of the card, I would say it is something physically wrong with the card. I've had cards go out before, usually do to a lightning strike or some other power surge though. Have you tried it in a different router yet?

There is something...wic card-type or something...on the V2 cards though, I don't think this is the case...
Post a sh run and let's see what shows up there. Also, post all the POST messages you see.

I've only installed E1/T1 cards but the card type needs to be configured before the card is seen as an interface. Hopefully this helps

Not sure about the version 2 cards though...the older cards you had to, I know...
