Hi all,

I have installed Red Hat Linux with vmware. However, linux can't seem to detect the ehternet card. In the linux Network Device Control, I can not find the right model of the ethernet brand. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Thank you in advance.

did you install RedHat as a guest OS in a ESX Server? or you have RedHat as host with GSX Server?

Cheers.

I installed RedHat as a guest OS. The host is WinXP Home Edition on a Dell Inspiron 700m. I tried bridging, NAT, and Host-only, etc... and none of them were able to detect the right ethernet card. Thank you.

Hello Vendor,

That's a good question. There are two files in the vmware-tools directory. The first file is VMwareTools-5.0.0-13014.i386.rpm and the second file is VMwareTools-5.0.0-13014.tar.gz. I installed only the first one. Do I need to installed the second file as well? If so, I need to unzip that. Thank you.

Did you run vmware-toolbox?

In a Linux or FreeBSD virtual machine, boot the guest operating system, start X and launch your graphical environment. Then you can launch the VMware Tools background application with this command:

vmware-toolbox &
