I have Business Element Manager with about 80 handsets registered. I have multiple phones which do not show the capability to deregister the phone, as in the option does not appear. When going to Telephony - Sets - Active Sets and choose a handset, go to Capabilities and Preferences and then choose IP Terminal Details, the only thing that appears is a "Keep DN Alive" checkbox and nothing more. Other phones get all the options and deregister OK but a number of them do not. All the phones are 1120e and all have the most recent firmware.

Have you got any ideas as to why as it is driving me mad having to unplug phones every time I have someone move desk...and it is pretty often!

Thanks.

My first question is do you have full access rights onto the BCM system?. You should be able to go to e.g.

Configuration tab, Resources, Telephony Resources. Then select the IP and Application sets Module.
Select the IP Terminal details.

Highlight the DN that you want to deregister, then click the Deregister button.

You mention about moving IP Phones on a regular basis, Do you have more than one network running in the building?. As a rule, the IP phone should register again if moved to another location, unless each socket is specific.

All the best

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

I do have full access, but when I try that, the phone restarts and logs itself straight back in to the same ext rather than requesting a DN.

They get moved because we need to keep users on the same ext (various apps have the ext details, and changing them all is just as much hassle so it is a case of moving the physical phone.

Thanks.

When you're in there doing the derestration, try unchecking the auto assign DN checkbox.

Hi telcodog,

The Auto-assign DN checkbox is unticked already on the IP Terminal Global Settings tab.

Can you see why I am completely stumped with this one!

Thanks.

Does this way work at all?
Telephony/Sets/Active Sets/Capabilities/Preferences/DN/IPTerminalDetail/Deregister DN

-have you rebooted lately?
-any alarms in the list?
-patches up to date?

Sadly not. This is the issue. When I go to that screen, instead of all the usual information, on the affected phones all I get is one check box with "Keep DN alive" and nothing more. The unaffected handsets all display ok.

Is there a way to tell the phone to deregister itself rather than from the server side I wonder?

The issue presented itself a while back and we have done an office move since then, so still happening post-reboot. No alarms showing and all running the latest firmware.

It is running 62.0.0.0 so only a couple of revisions behind. I will try installing that. It is just strange that it is only some phones with the issue and others deregister fine, yet they are the same make, model and running the same firmware as ones that do not work.

Thanks. I will give that a go later and see if it does anything.

When posting you forgot to include which BCM and which release number you are talking about.

What BCM and Release?
Have you tried another PC?
What OS are you using?
Provide 2 screenshots, one where is shows De-register and one where it does not.

Refresh above mentioned and some:

-BCM 4.0
Configuration > Resources > Telephony Resources > IP Terminal Details tab
Telephony > Sets > Active Sets > IP Terminal Details

-BCM 6.0
Configuration > Resources > Telephony Resources > IP Sets > IP Terminal Details
or
Telephony > Sets > Active Sets > Capabilities & Preferences > IP Terminal Details

-Element Manager and Java should be updated, in some cases downgrade java but lately no need.
This is especially when you do not see parts/items etc on Element Manager.

-Use compatible OS for Element Manager

-Wipe out EM and reinstall

-Reboot BCM

-Update patches on BCM

Outta ammo

A little radio silence due to workload, but a heads up on the current status.

Of all the phones that wont allow me to deregister, it is always an EXT below 100. BUT, if I change the EXT to another number above 100, the ability to deregister appears. I can then deregister it. Change it back to its original number...wont show the deregister option again. But at least it is a workaround and I have something to work with. Thinking it is just a corrupt DB lookup or something that has issues with numbers starting with 0.
