I deleted the user from usrmgr.exe and then deleted the user profile from the server.
However, the profile directory still exists in \Documents and Settings.

If I try to delete it manually, I get the following:

Cannot delete UsrClass.dat: There has been a sharing violation. The source or destination file may be in use.

How can I get rid of this directory...I want to recreate the user with the same logon.

Thanks for your input!

Go to My Computer - Manage. Look in Shared Folders - Open Files. See if the file is listed in there. If it is, right-click and close it. See if you can delete it then.

Also try logging in as administrator and taking ownership of the folder in Security - Advanced.

You need to reboot the server, and then delete the profile, there is an open handle.

Have you tried taking ownership of it first, then deletng it?

Thanks for all your input. A simple re-boot was all that was needed to allow me to delete the stubborn profile directory!
