A friend has an old laptop that was working fine. Her son-in-law decided it suited him to add a partition to the tiny hard drive. Since then, she has had nothing but problems with it. The BIOS only recognizes his partition (H drive)and not the C drive. In "My Computer", they both show up. Both my brother and I have tried to delete the partition with FDISK so that the drive can be reformatted. FDISK is not allowing the partition to be deleted. Any ideas?

use killdisk!whatever file system like unix,ntfs,fat32,fat16, all can be cleared.

free version only can clear 1 pass but that is more than enough.

search for that tiny tool in google.com. boot ur computer with a bootdisk and use killdisk to clear the hdd. then use fdisk to rebuild the partition.

With kind regards.

Delete the "Logical DOS drive" in the Extended Dos Patition"
with Fdisk FIRST, *before* the
Extended Dos partition
(this is assuming that she had only ONE partition to begin with)
If she had more than just the "Primary Active Partition" and had others.....then just delete the "logical dos drive" that he created and not the whole "Extended Partition"

If the above doesn't work.....either it's a non-dos partition....or that it was created with Drive Overlay software such as PartitionMagic or Similar
