I have two Desktop Icons left over (I believe) from an earlier install of WS_FTP. One is named WS_FTP Pro and the other is WS_FTP Pro Explorer. I can not delete them using a right click (it just says the program was not found). I have logged in as Administrator and looked in the Desktop folder for every user and these files are not listed. Yes, I first verified that Windows Explorer's Folder Options are setup to view all files, including hidden and system files. This is driving me NUTS! And Ipswitch was not able to solve the problem, either.

I welcome your ideas.

Your not the only person with this problem, take a look at thread779-871581

It might be a good idea to contact the support dept for WS_FTP as this is not right.

Thank you for your suggestion glpalmer711. Hidden in the verbage of my original post was the fact that I did phone technical support at Ipswitch, the makers of WS_FTP. They had me try a bunch of stuff and then the lady promised to ask other techs phone me back in the afternoon. That was a week ago and, unfortunately, I have misplaced the case number.

You mean like pointing to the Icon and doing a Ctrl-X? I tried, but it does not work. And when I right click on the icon the only options are open, delete and create shortcut. None work.

You might have some sort of a registry problem.

Go to PCWorld.com, search for a Registry Cleaner program.

That'll most likly fix this.

Thank you Legionaire! I run the registry cleaner that was already on my computer (part of Norton Systemworks) and it did the trick.

melburstein,
You should have given Legionaire a star for that fix. Nothing like a one-action fix to solve a frustrating issue. :)

All great accomplishments were once considered impossible.
