Hi, I'm totally new to MySQL to so please be patient with me. i have just installed MySQL 4.1....well supposedly i did, because when i load up the WinMySQLAdmin tool. it says 1.4 so I'm little confused here. The 2nd question is when i try to create a database, right click on the database, it gives me options for 'flush hosts', 'flush tables' 'flush logs' etc. No options to create tables. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

WinMySQL admin is a tool for monitoring and changing server parameters; it is not a database administration tool.

If you are new to MySQL then you may want to try soem GUIs like MySQL-Front or SQL-Yog which is very powerful.

I suggest anyway that you spend some time learning how to use MySQL prompt and start from there.

The best way to start is to download the official reference guide.

Remember that most of things refer to the Linux version; however all strictly operational commands are the same.

For server administration on Windoz ask and we will help you.

Thank you so much for your help! i tried both of the tools you mentioned and i like SQLyog alot better!!
The reason why i need to use MySQL is because one of our clients have their data in MySQL and they need to have that exported in Access and i noticed that SQLYog does have the importing/exporting capabilites. So i'll use that and if i need any help, i'll be sure to post it on here :)
