Unable to connect to other network servers for backup

I'm running BE version 8.6 and am having a hard time performing the neccessary backups. I tried just rescheduling an old successful backup, but that does not work. I cannot see the server on our network that needs to be backed up. I see the local machine only in the list of servers. I know I'm connected, I can ping, or browse the network and can access the correct servers that way, but not through BE. Can someone help me PLEASE?

If you can only see the local machine, then the most likely cause is that BE services do not have a domain account.

Go to services, check the Backup Exec services. Look in the LOGON AS column. Is the account a domain account, does that account have access to the directories?

Yes the account is a Domain account. I also just noticed that whenever I try to run User-Defined Selections, Veritas just completely shuts down.
