Hi,

Until recently, my colleage was able to connect. She cannot identify what caused it to stop working.

AOL suggested spyware was the problem, so I have cleaned all of it off for her. However, although I can get a dial-up connection working for her, it refuses to see any updates for the spyware searching programs, even though I know there are some.

There is a McAfee Firewall program on there, but all the AOL programs are allowed, even when you set it to allow everything (ie. low security) it does not connect. Even disabling it completely fails to allow connection.

A number of calls to AOL have failed to identify the problem at the moment. Can you help ?

Regards,
Jay/UK

Ok let me see if I have this right.

She can dial up over the phone from the modem to AOL.

AOL broadband that uses a cable modem connected to either USB or NIC card does not work.

Here are a few suggestions.

Run Ad-aware
Run Hijack this
Run CWS Shredder

Hijack this and CWS shredder can be found at
Ad-aware can be found at
Run those three and then try reconnecting over AOL broadband. Let us know.

I have 3 clients with the same problem. All use aol 9.0 some have upgraded to the se version with all the extra protecion. No viruses or adware present. AOL says it's a Microsoft problem but they won't say WHAT The problem is. This is an AOL issue - I think something is up and they don't have the answer yet.
Anyone have any ideas would be appreciated.
