Hello
I have a Bcm50 R6.0
I am not able anymore to log my ip phones from the WAN.
All of them log fine through the Bcm's LAN ip address.

I would like to know what are the minimal ports that need to be forwarded to the Bcm.

Thanks alot.

Regards,
SL

I had port 7000 to 7002 forwarded to 192.168.1.200

Now I have port 7000 to 7000
And port 7002 to 7002 entered as two diffrent entries.

That worked, but maybe I was just lucky. Maybe just deleting the 7000 port and re-entering it just corrected the situation.

You are right, it's a network issue. I am still concerned with Avaya letting the Bcm50 go. I still need licences for my system but don't want to invest in Avaya!

On the other hand, I am having problems getting answers from a Ucx rep. !!

Regards,

Best to start a thread here on E-Metrotel questions and they can answer most all of them:

Hi Joe,
Remember you've answered a great deal of them in the email I sent you.
Emetrotel has designated me a rep but haven't heard from him for a long time.

Hi Curly
I went through their whole web site. The unanswered questions I have need special attention, I've been told.

I will post them on the Emetrotel forum.

Thanks

I can now log my phones to the Bcm50 through the Lan 192.168.1.200 address and the Wan (ISP)address.
In my house the phones connect with no problem on both ip address Lan and Wan.

If I take on of my phones at my friends house and log it to my Bcm50 it will log fine but no dial tone or sound. It will dial an extension but when the other phone picks up the call no sound at all. No voice communication at all!

I tried a Nortel 1110 ip phone and a i2004. Both of them worked off premise in the past. But now have the same issue. No voice!

What are the exact ports that need to by opened?
Are there other configurations needed cause I am out of ideas!

What about the codex? Which one is the best?

Thanks again!

Codec for me is default

As for ports they are all listed in EM or the Guide
Pay attention to the ones that say Signalling.
I had issues the other day and decided to open all the ones listed in EM.

Hey Curly, Guys,

Should I be opening these ports in my router?

Signaling:
0 1023
1718 1719
2216 2227
5000 5000
7000 7000 This one is open in my router.
60000 60000

Maybe it would help solve my voice path issues!

Regards,

SL

The only port ranges I opened are 7000-7002 and 30000-30099. David has connected to my BCM50 R6 with an IP phone from the UK and the voice quality was outstanding. David also has a BCM50 R6 and I've connected to his system with an old i2002 with no problems. I recently consulted with a local IT guy on remotely connecting an IP phone to his system. Nothing would work. He finally replaced the router and everything worked perfectly. You might try updating the router firmware to see if that helps.

Curly,
Yes I can ping my ISP address from my friends place.
The ip phones can connect now, but I am still having voice path issues.
I also tried the following phones ; i2004, 1110 and a 1140e. No voice path!

Could it be the off premise router?
Just wondering...

Thanks

What about opening the signaling ports stated above ?

Thanks

Here's an update.

I got a friend to log in my system at an off premise location.
I have opened the following ports on my router:
0 1023
1718 1719
2216 2227
5000 5000
7000 7000
60000 60240

These are signaling ports in the Bcm50.

Result: still no voice path but the phone logged in perfectly. Can make yhe phone ring, the display is fine. No voice!

I have a Netgear Nighthawk R7000 if this can help.

Regards

I dont think you answered these yet:

-Did you find and SIP or ALG settings on your router? try and disable it.

-Also disable QoS

-Did Sheildsup verify your ports were open?

-Did you try DMZ mode on the rotuer for the BCM's IP? - All ports will be open for the BCM's IP, good for quick testing only.

-Did it ever work on the Nighthawk or was it the old router that everything worked?....and do you still have the old router to test with?

Hello Curly,
Both SIP ALG are set to disabled
QoS is disabled
Tried ShieldsUp but don't understand the web site. Did the test but besides telling me I have ports open it doen't tell me which one!
Did not try the DMZ yet, want to be sure because of the security danger.

Ever since I have my new router Nighthawk it doesn't work anymore.
I also remember having the same issues on my LinkSys E3000.
I do not have the old router anymore.

I will try with the DMZ this weekend.

thanks

Download this 1.0.5.70 for the latest firmware.
Issue with port forwarding say to reset all inputs and start fresh one firmware updated.
