A pc lost its networked printer connection after rebooting the Netware 5 server. The Compaq DeskPro 2000 pc uses an LPT2 printer connection which is require by a DOS application. The pc can log back in to the network without any problem. But everytime we try to capture the printer port to re-connect it, we get the following message.

Windows Networking
The following error occurred while trying to connect LPT2 to \\ionnw\IONL4Q. The local device type and the network resouce type are not the same.

Help!

Did you make sure the printer is set to Share? Sometimes when you reboot the server it loses the printer connection (including the Share feature). Can other PCs on network share that printer? Have you checked settings on the server re: the printer in question? Hope this helps.
