PLEASE HELP;
I have a fax line set up that can only dial local calls. When I set "prefernces" to External-Prime-p, i don't get dial tone. When i set the preferences to none, i can call local. I am fairly new to the BCM. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Where do you see this in programming?

Is your DN restricted via filters?

Under active sets, i have no restrictions set for the fax line. Am i missing something?

What is the error on display when you try to dial LD?
Sorry not sure on what programming you see, does not ring a bell.

Depending on what type of lines depends on programming too.
Maybe the line is restricted.

Perhaps post screen shots of programming.

Hmm... Interesting. It sounds like digits are being lost when dialing LD.
Did your installer program any routing on your system?

There were two ways of getting the FAX machine to call out on the various Norstars I installed over the years.
One was to have the FAX machine dial 9 (assuming this is the programmed dial-out digit), then the phone number. No need for a pause as the Norstar waits for dial tone before delivering the digits to the CO. (It's called Host Delay, and is truthfully actually a programmed pause as opposed to actual dial tone detection).

The second solution was to hotline the analog station port to a pause by programming Feature 78 (a 1.5 second pause) as the dial out number for hotline operation.

Not sure if this is your actual solution, but perhaps will get you headed in the right direction.

The Prime Line setting for an Analog Port is fixed at "Intercom", regardless of how you program it.
