I get the error "Unable to borwse cube <cubename>:unspecified error.
I have installed the latest service pack 3a for win xp and sql server 2000. I have uninstalled analyssi server and tried it again but to no avail. its the same error..

Just as a last couple of thoughts, 1) make sure that the service pack levels for Analysis Services pack level match the client and the server 2) if cube is access from Excel, then pivot table services must be installed on the client.

ptslite.exe and pts.exe and they are the pivot table services that run on the client.

Hope this helps good luck.

This is the same problem I have - except sometimes it says Provider not found. Did you find any answers?

WyldGynjer ...

Have you tried the suggestions listed in this post and still are receiving this message?

Thanks

Don't feel alone guys. I have the same problems and have run out of options long time ago. I have also in the mean time realised that the client should at least be running Office2000. At least I think so. Also check out the thread called "Unable to browse data in cubes", started by ajitt. I am also reading about the ideas exchanged there. :)

I realised that I have installed ptslite.exe but not pts.exe. Where do I get pts.exe ? I does not seem to be on the CD's ? :)

hi Recce,

I have Win XP and Office 2003, and I have installed the latest service pack as well.. but to no avail. Its really getting annoying!!
What is the pts.exe or ptslite.exe ?? Are they required to be installed as well??
Thanks ..

Hi,

I am having some success with users browsing their cubes on IE while working with Windows 2000 and Office 2000 however not with users working on Wndows NT and Office 97. and unfortunately I do not have XP experience. So, to answer your question. You need to at least install ptsfull.exe or ptslite.exe as well as sql2kasp3.exe and to make sure I have also installed MDAC2.8

However this is only what I have done to solve some of my problems and these are just some suggestions. Please keep in mind that I have actually asked the question "Where do I get pts.exe ?" and that I also do not know what pts.exe is.

Please feel free to share your thaughts in any case. :)

I have WinXP, Office 2003, and I uninstalled everything (service pack and SQL Server & Services), reinstalled the latest service pack, then reinstalled SQL Server stuff and now it works.

I don't have pts.exe on my machine anywhere.

What versions of Win XP are people using?
