Situation is this: Have two domains A & B. Domain A has 2 win 2000 servers, and a couple NT4 servers. Domain B has only NT4. Installed new W2K server in Domain A, and it is able to browse Domain A fine, howver not able to see any of Domain B. Using WINS and DHCP on network, but not DNS.

Other W2K servers are fine and can browse ok.

From this new server, you are able to map drives in Domain B fine, but cannot browse.
Any suggestions very welcome.

Are they in the same IP range ?
Does the WIN2KServer point to the NT4 WINS server and vice versa ?

Have you tried to do a net view \\COMPUTERNAME from a Win2K box
Computername = NT4 Computer Peter Van Eeckhoutte

Tried various things, and in the end managed to get it sorted by allocating a different IP address. Thanks

The problem will be with the Browising and WINS service to make sure that you can see both Domains in either enviroment you will need to make sure that the W2K (PDCE)has the NETBIOS name and IP details of (PDC) to be able to browse the NT4 domain and NT4 will need to have the NETBIOS name and IP details for W2K.

the esisiet way is to use the #pre #dom in a LMhost file on both machines. I presume that WINS is running in the NT4 enviroment.?? if it is may need to Install WINS in the W2K and PULL from the NT4 WINS.
Let me know if this helps

All working ok, thanks.
One other question while I am here. Is there a way to disable the control panel for users accessing Terminal services. Therefore limiting their access to what they can do?

Implement a group policy, you should be able to restrict access
Also, there are some registrysettings you can set on the Terminal Server to restrict certain things Peter Van Eeckhoutte

Is this possible in a mixed mode environment?, We are currently not running active directory?

hmmm... you should implement a policy file...
Use poledit to create a policy file, name it NTConfig.pol and place it in the Netlogon share on your NT4 DC's Peter Van Eeckhoutte
