Unable to boot up to windows

I have a WINXP e-machines. My problem is that Whenever I turn on my computer it shows the black screen with a big e logo and BOOT Menu<F10>
BIOS setting <f2>. I went to the BIOS and change the order from CD ROM first HD Second to HD first and CD ROM second to no avail. Any articles that can help me?.Yes I run AVG spyware and anti-virus any help would be appreciated.

as far as i know there might be a problem during POST. The information is not shown because the boot logo (if it is called that way) is enabled. So you have to go to the BIOS and tried to find a setting similar to that and disabled it. Then you will be able to see the POST messages which will allow you to diagnose what is the problem.

Try Chkdsk /r from the Recovery Console.

The hard drive manufacturer will have free bootable diagnostic software on their site which will thoroughly check the condition of your hard drive.

It may also be an idea to check your RAM for possible faults.
