I don't mean to beat a dead horse, but i am having a problem performing backups in ld43 ever since the power failed and the switch shut down cold last week. this is what i get:

ld 43
EDD007
TEMU083 Diskette on active CMDU drive /f0 is write protected
TEMU144 Please check that floppy on side 0 is available
TEMU011 Error occured backing up database
Check that floppy diskette is properly inserted

what i have done thus far is switch cores in ld 135 and make sure the disks are in right. all the posts that i have read on this issue are usually related to the disks being old or the drives, but i think it's just odd that it just started happening immediatly after the cold shut down. any help would be great. thanks guys.

The books say to attempt dump should be done on the same tape or disk; if successful, a transient error is indicated and normal procedures can be resumed. If it fails, DO NOT attempt another datadump until the fault is isolated and corrected.
If the storage medium is not proved faulty and the storage device appears serviceable, datadumping to an OLD tape or disk, if available, may help to pin point the problem.

have you tried to move the write protect off of the disk? if your not sure how, ask any one in grade school..

any new floppy should take an edd (if it;s write allow).

dump the books, edd to a new disk..

Can they just be any new blank 2.0MB disks?

Johnpoole,
Took me a while to get the 2.0 disks. Can you format them on the 61c, and if so how?

Check the box they came in, and it should say, "pre-formatted". Just shove them in the drive and try a backup. If that doesn't work, consider replacing the floppy drives. Do you use a UPS to protect the system from commercial power problems, and have you checked the system grounds??

You can format those in Windows and they will work.
