We have a domain with win2k and the clients are all Win XP SP2.

There is only one machine causing this problem so far, the user is trying to connect to a HP8500n he can connect and print on two other workstations near by but not on the problem one. l have logged in and can print from that workstation on to the HP8500n fine. l have tryed everything so he can add a new printer (HP8500n).

l have tryed setting him with local admin rights, admin rights for that printer, but no luck. l have checked AD and he has no restrictions, l have checked the PC in AD that has no restrictions.

Thanks in advance! (As a last resort l will reinstall windows if all else fails)

Right quick question then.

Do you use Roaming profiles, or just simply have each user with their own machine?

If the latter is the case, try removing his user profile. Login as Local Administrator, and goto c:\documents and settings\

Find the user's folder and simply delete it.

Log out and log back in as this user and his user profile will be recreated.

If on the other hand you use roaming profiles, then it's bound to be an issue non-related to that.

Hope some of this helps

Finally managed to get that users profile deleted.

And it worked like a charm - used (Run As) local admin and installed the printer first time.

Many thanks!!!
