Hi,
We have just installed and configured the Cognos 7.2 tools and Web Services. We are able to view the Cognos Test Studio using the Tomcat web server. However, we are not able to access the Cognos Impromptu interface. When we try to open the Upfront interface using :
We get :
1. A message in a window : 'file Download' : You are downloading the file upfcgi.exe from machine_name. Would you like to open the file or save it to your computer?
On clicking open, a window opens and closes instantly.
2. After the above step the Application log of the Event Viewer(Win2K) contains the error :

The description for Event ID ( 169 ) in Source ( Upfront CGI ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. The following information is part of the event: A security firewall error occurred. Status: -918, -912, -907., , , , , , , , , , , , , , , .

Can someone please help?

Hi

Did you give execute rights to the cgi-bin virtual directory ?? I think this is the problem.

If not, what is the webserver yiou are using an what is the OS ?? If it is Apache for Windows (Cognos does not support this) then be sure that you have filled out the right virtual direectories in the rigght order in the httpd.conf file just as listed in the manuals.
