Hello, I have a customer who is trying to get us setup with remote access for support. They have a SonicWall unit providing the VPN access. I can connect with no problem and get assigned an IP on the correct network but I can't communicate with any device on the network. No pinging or anything.

The customer says that they have had this problem for some time, but can't figure it out. They also told me that if they add the device that is going to connect remotely to their domain then it will work.

Any ideas on what to check?

2 things, firstly user/group access permissions does your user have permission to access that network and secondly firewall permissions VPN->XXX are the ports open.

I assume this is using the SW VPN client.

you might have to check client connection section in sonicwall console.

find configuration for wan vpn, and enable split session for vpn client. it could be it or as dinkytoy mentioned it, firewall and access could be one either.

good luck.

My every answer is
"There seems to be no pattern of when this problem occurs."
for Users.. :p

Thanks All. I have to wait on the customer to work on this issue so it may take a bit. I will post any findings I have.
