What are everyone's thoughts on NEC discontinuing the UM8000, especially for the 9100? The 9300 has the UM4730 but the only option now for the 9100 is InMail.

InMail is ok for basic voicemail but isn't overly feature rich. NEC is pushing to upgrade/migrate users from the 8100/9100 CP10 but when customers have used the UM8000 for years, it seems a step backward to upgrade to the CP20 and give them InMail.

The InMail just doesn't do directories and dial by name features that well.

I understand there are supply issues for the UM8000 but would be nice if NEC would say it's temporarily unavailable but not discontinue it completely.

InMail is a better VM system. This is coming from an Active Voice tech of 25+ years. Directories by name are actually simplified and integrated on the ext name level..just better. Unless you are using a gazillion TBOX's for whatever reason. I see VM8000 out there and ask why all the time.

Nec has released an inskin version of the UM4730 voicemail. I have no other details at this time.

Iwas going to quote a UM8000 to a hotel for PMS. I guess that is down the tubes

UM4730 does Hotel Motel as well.

I Think the 2100 has PMS for it's INMAIL system I wonder if the 9100 has something like that as well?

I would like to run the hotel guest Voice Mail using the installed In-Mail installed and the Admin phones are now using. I never used In-Mail for hotel so I'm looking for so help. Do I just build a mailbox for each guest room? Will the Check In/Out messages from the PMS system to 9100 CPU give status and clear guest room Mailboxes of messages?
Thanks
