Hi,

I have a Sun Ultra 10 440Mhz 512MB RAM running Solaris 8 (reinstalled less than 1 month ago).

I can boot into the OS OK. But as soon as I start anything such as installing software, listing files etc. the Sun panics and reboots.

This happens very often, once it crashes it can crash upto 4 or 5 times when restarting before it stabilizes. But without fail as soon as I do something it crashes again.

Some of the messages output to the screen include:

Does anyone know what could be the problem?

Hi AndrewG1976,

There is an script that was developed by SUN called iscda.sh, this... if I remember well... can be used to analyze your crash files (inix.X and vmcore.X)

Or maybe you can try (if you have resources) change HD to other ultra 10.

Maybe can help you if you take look arround the web to get iscda.sh script...

Regards,

imix

try booting from the cdrom

ok boot cdrom -s

See if the system is stable running like this.
Also while you are booted from this method you can run format and analyze the disk. this will stress the system a little.
From a quick first view I would suspect the CPU module.
