I have just installed a Startalk 180 on a customers existing norstar system with analogue lines. The startalk requires an NU tone from the exchange when the caller hangs up to determine when to stop recording voicemail messages. This is usually a problem when trying to arrange it with BT but we usually get there in the end. The options from a BT exchange are usually silence, NU tone or a recorded message saying "the other party has disconnected".

The problem is that this customer has Telewest lines and when I spoke to Telewest they insisted it cannot be changed. Is this true or are they talking rubbish?

Does anybody have a contact at Telewest who may help?

Does anybody know a "work around"

The unit currently holds lines open for about a minute after each message and if I cannot resolve it the unit will have to come out resulting in wasted time but more importantly an unsatisfied customer.

HELP PLEASE

Thanks in advance

This might sound simplistic but have you got the disconnect supervision on , or wont this work with the conditions that your getting from the telephone exchange.

Hi,
The term disconnect supervision is alien to me in the UK I am not sure it is in the software, Where is it found and what exactly does it detect
