How do these two systems compare?

Nortel IP phone support ... BCM50s don't appear to support Nortel 1150s or 1165s, but UCx does? I saw a video of an 1150 on UCx as a standard non-ACD set.

Analog trunks ... does UCx support direct inward dialing to IP stations from analog trunks? Say, one trunk is private to a certain IP station for both incoming and outgoing calls. Does it have ports for standard loop start analog trunks on the main unit like BCM does? Is answer and/or disconnect supervision required on those? If non-supervised, can one be designated incoming only and another outgoing only?

Firmware ... does it replace the original Nortel Unistim 3.x firmware on Nortel sets with its own Unistim variant?

Integrated router ... does UCx have one like the 50E?

SIP trunking to telcos (like Bell Canada or low-cost internet providers) -- which providers are supported?

Voice mail -- does it run on the main unit itself?

Licensing model? What comes with it?

Is it certified by Industry Canada?

Is there any detailed documentation on it?

Sorry for all the dumb questions.

DominicUCX,

Here are some answers to your questions:

Nortel IP phone support ... BCM50s don't appear to support Nortel 1150s or 1165s, but UCx does? I saw a video of an 1150 on UCx as a standard non-ACD set.- The UCx supports the 1150's and 1165's

If non-supervised, can one be designated incoming only and another outgoing only?- You can assign the analog trunks in separate Trunk Groups to use as needed for incoming or outgoing. The analog trunks are terminated on the UCx with either an internal 4 or 8 Port FXO Card or an external FXO Gateway such as the Grandstream.

Firmware ... does it replace the original Nortel Unistim 3.x firmware on Nortel sets with its own Unistim variant?- The UNISTIM load for the UCx works on both the UCx and BCM.

Integrated router ... does UCx have one like the 50E?- No, the UCx doesn't have a Router, but does support VLAN and enterprise SIP trunks over a dedicated internet connection. (See E-Metrotel UCx documentation or more information)

SIP trunking to telcos (like Bell Canada or low-cost internet providers) -- which providers are supported?- Here is the list of supported SIP Providers from the UCx documentation page. ***PLEASE NOTE***- This list may grow as E-Metrotel does certification testing with ISP Providers.
Voice mail -- does it run on the main unit itself?- Yes, the Voice Mail is built into the UCx and does NOT require an external server or device. Each User License allows for Voice Mail and Virtual Extensions cna be programmed for Voice Mailboxes, example; Sales force who isn't in the office but needs Voice Mail.

Licensing model? What comes with it?- ALL features\applications are built into the UCx and a User Licenses will give the user voice mail, Find Me Follow Me, Professional Call Recording, capability for Contact Center ACD Agent, Contact Center is also built in with no separate licensing for Queues (Skillsets) or Agents. Again, a User License gives access to all the features. There are some optional add ons available such as Reporting for Contact Center Wallboard for Contact Center, TAPI.

Is it certified by Industry Canada?

Is there any detailed documentation on it?- Go to this link for UCx documentation.
For further details on the E-Metrotel UCx and becoming a reseller, go to the main web page-
I hope this helps and have a blessed day!
