Hello all,

I have loaded up some professional recordings in the UCM's "CustomPrompts" Folder and when I select them in VM Pro on the module, I get error:

"You do not have permission to select this directory. Please select some other directory"

If I click OK, the custom prompt does indeed show in the Prompt Field and when I test call in, it works....just the error is throwing me off. Thoughts?

Okkie26: I figured as much haha.

This occurs when the owner of the WAV files you uploaded isn't vmpro.

It will work since everyone can read the files, but to get rid of the error you would need to use 'chown vmpro:vmpro *.wav' as root, also you wouldn't be able to use a record element on these WAV files since it doesn't have write permissions to them.

janni78: Appreciate the info. I am not quite sure what you mean: "you would need to use 'chown vmpro:vmpro *.wav' as root"

Can you elaborate a bit? Thank you!

Also, how would I upload Custom Professional Mailbox Greetings to the UCM? When I try and drag them to the "Greetings" Folder I get an error:

Never mind, figured it out. Posted below in case anyone else was curious:

Here we go again [banghead]

Guess at least it isn't as bad as running it on all files in the folder, but it's pretty bad.

You're solving your problem by giving everyone full access to the folder so theoretically anyone gaining access to that system could use that folder to run exploits.

janni78: Appreciate the info. If you have the time, can you share the proper way to load these custom audio files?

I am looking at the manual and it mentions: "Web Manager can upload files to the server. This includes the uploading of custom voicemail prompts."

When I log into web-manager: Applications > File Manager I do indeed see the "Names" and "Greetings" Folder, However I am not seeing the "CustomPrompts" folder, rather "VMProCustomPrompts".

Web Manager has a folder called VMProCustomPrompts as you've found. Any prompts you put in that can be used to populate the voicemail server's CustomPropmts folder by clicking the Apply Prompts icon.

The fun (annoying/stupid) bit is this is a one-way synch from web manager. Any prompts in the voicemail folder not also in the web manager folder get automatically deleted from the voicemail folder when you next apply new prompts. You can't create sub-folders and the files in the web manager folder are not part of the web manager backup/restore (whoever designed this clearly never actually used it or ever use Voicemail Pro but there you are, that's the official route).

Why they didn't simple map the voicemail folder to web manager I don't know.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

That’s correct..
VMProCustomPrompts folder

Put the files there,.

Make sure vmpro client is not open when uploading the files.

So when you open the vmpro client you can now select these files from the drop down box.

One thing to watch out for is that if you upload files through the File Manager it will delete all files an reupload them.

This mean that if you uploaded files through SCP those will be gone since File Manager doesn't know about them.

Thanks everyone. So is there a way to undo the chmod 777 command prompt I ran?

ACSS

First of all you should run "chown vmpro:vmpro *.wav" in the Greetings folder to set the correct owner for all copied .wav files.

Then you can run "chmod 755 Greetings" to set to old rights on the Greetings folder.

Hi Janni78 - Thank you. Do I run "chown vmpro:vmpro *.wav" the same way I ran "chmod 777/opt/vmpro/Greetings" under "root"?
