Hello, hope someone can help with this - thanks in advance.

I'm setting up UC Soft phones. They work fine on the local voice VLAN but when I connect via MBG I get one way audio ( no speech from softphone)tried stun server but no joy. I Also have Teleworker users on the MBG which work fine. Licences no problem. SIP connector on MBG set up and default SIP ICP set to controller. I can see Soft phone connects under devices when connected via MBG. The MBG is now acting as the DFG for the Mitel.

Mitel 3300 10.1.2.13
MBG 5.2.20.0 (9.0.22.0) server gateway mode
UCExpress Softphone 3.0.213 licensed

Are there ports I need to open on the MBG, I thought MBG firewall was set up so Mitel apps would pass through?

Again thanks for any help

You are correct in Server/Gateway mode the server should have the correct ports open.
You could just check that these ports are allowed on your LAN
Allow bi-directional TCP connections to destination ports 2114, 2116, 35000 and 37000 on the MBG IP address, if using UC

Thanks Supernova99, I have been assured the ports are all open.

I have run a wireshark on my laptop (which has the UCExpress soft phone running) and have noted the following if it helps anyone help me to resolve the problem.

When I connect via the MBG and the one way audio happens (no voice from laptop) wire shark shows RTP protocol (which I can listen back to)

When I’m on the voice VLAN (the audio is fine both ways, including when I VPN to MBG and open UCExpress in LAN profile) and run a trace I get PPP Comp protocol.

MBG External IP XXX.XXX.XXX.19
MBG Internal IP 192.168.1.251 / 24
ICP 192.168.1.253/24 with DFG of MBG ie.251
Switch Ports ICP and MBG fixed to voice VLAN 3

Thanks

Your handsets are using VLAN 3 what VLAN is your softphone using?
Is there a gateway programmed between the VLAN's as this issue does point to being a gateway issue.

ICP is in VLAN 3 with IP handsets dual porting, handsets on are site tripping into correct VLAN and PC's are in default VLAN.

The ICP and MBG are both in switch ports that are fixed in the voice VLAN 3.

Softphones are for remote users and I'm trying to get my lap top with softphone up and working first.

If I'm connecting via the MBG's external IP with the softphone then the traffic to the ICP would be within the same VLAN as both are in VLAN 3 fixed ports on the switch? Plus I have set the ICP to use the MBG as it's gateway.

The POE switch was acting as the DFG between VLANS, which I thought was the problem so changed the Mitel to use the MBG as the gateway

Thanks

So are you using the softphone from an external ADSL line? e.g. home
I think you should set the network switch to do the default gateway between VLAN's not the MBG.
The MBG should have a DG of the VLAN 3 GW
You are correct if a phone registers through the MBG then it will also be in VLAN 3 as the MBG is in the same VLAN.

You could try and see if x-lite softphone works through MBG that way you can eliminate the laptop.

Thanks for your help, right have set up x-lite and this works fine. Audio both directions on the LAN and when connecting via the MBG.

So I would guess pointing at an issue with UCExpress ?

Is the UC gateway correct?

UC Gateway? I might have missed something but I'm trying to set up UCExpress which is just software clinet on the PC's. within the UCEXpress set up have pointed it at external MBG address, and get one way audio when connecting via the MBG but no issues on when connecting on the LAN (of course changing the IP to the local LAN IP of the ICP)

On the MBG enbale SIP Connector and created SIP users on the ICP.

The x-lite works fine in both situations ie via the MBG or on the LAN.

Ceratinly aware UCAdvanced requires server set up but like I say I'm using UC Express.

Thanks

Sorry to confuse you it was my fault for not reading the post properly
UC Express is a client only UC Advanced is a server/client solution

No problem, thanks for your help. Think will pass traces to Tech support.

Cheers

I have just had a look through the install guide
It seems you may have to setup a STUN server or use a SIP aware firewall
As without NAT Transversal you will experience one way audio
