Hi
does the UCA desktop client have to be a SIP device. on the MiCollab server i have the device as a UC endpoint and the enable sip tick box ticked on the client itself and it works, but i can't get it to work as an App server port and when leaving the tick box for enable SIP device untucked.
does it only need to be SIP when using in teleworker mode and outside the office.

Thanks for any help.

If you want to use it as an app server port you don't check off the SIP tick box. It's not using SIP. I think it's using Minet when it's an app server port.

You also need to make sure you have the MAC address field filled out in the 3300 if you're using it as an app server port. I've seen sometimes it automatically puts it in. Sometimes it doesn't. If not the MAC will be a1:21:00:00 with the last two octets being the extension number of the softphone. Eg. If your softphone ext is 217 it will be a1:21:00:00:02:17. If your extension number has a 0 (zero) in it, replace the 0 with the letter a. Eg If your softphone ext is 207 the MAC will be a1:21:00:00:02:a7.

If you're using through an MBG you'll obviously need to have the MBG licenses as well as configure this MAC in the MBG account for the softphone as well.

Hope this helps.

Skibby, which doc are you pulling this info from?

From the doc of personal experience.

I had the same issue before the first time I used the softphone as an app server port and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't work until a colleague told me about this MAC address. Apparently this has carried forward since this softphone came out so if you can find out when they first introduced the softphone and look for documentation around that time you may find it.
