How long should a UC Module take to reboot and go operational with One X Portal and Voicemail Pro with 8 Users and no messages

no more than 10 minutes.

Funny someone should ask this, as it's been something I've been meaning to throw out there myself. Some months ago I upgraded my lab kit, which has a UC module, to 10.0.4. I'd have to set a timer, but I've noticed it takes this thing a good 15-20 minutes sometimes on power up of the 500 to fully come online. I'm hesitant to get it to 10.1. This thing has been upgraded a few times over the years. It's the good 'ol Version 1. Wondering if I should just re-image it to give a fresh start?

I have seen the OneX Portal take between 15-20 minutes to go GREEN on every UC Module I have installed. Installing on a server like a Dell R220, I usually see it come up between 4 and 6 minutes.

Thans for the star but to my disgrace i have to admid that a UCM v2 on R10.1 seems to work pretty well, at least 100% better as on previuos versions.

100% of 0 is still 0 :p

UCM's have been reasonably robust for some time (V9.0 I think), at least as robust as any running on a windows PC
The early releases were quite a problem so I can understand why many now will not sell them

Nowhere need as bad as the IVM on an INDeX which was never made acceptably reliable

I have good memories of the old INDeX system, i like to charish them and in the ongoing years they will be better as it actually was.
One day i was with a INDeX TIER 3 engineer (John Tucker) at a customer site with three locations each with a loaded INDeX 1000 linked with DPNSS and IPNC cards.
These IPNC cards were actually a predecessor of the IP Office and we had some problems with QoS or better no QoS at all

John ejected the RJ45 cable from the IPNS and the whole system rebooted, he was in shock bacause hab- had never seen a INDeX with a spontanous reset.
It turned out that there were ongoing IP calls while he removed the cable, the INDeX did not like that at all.

I also have fond memories of the INDeX, I was working for SDX in the leper colonyRepair centre when the INDeX was launched.

I am surprised the reboot happened as described, i remember Disconnecting a lan cable with a call in progress & it remaining in service until the cable was reconnected (obviously with no speech)

The most surprising fault I had with one of these was the customer complaining of a loud screeching on calls that were routed to a remote site. the cause was a fax machine behind the operator, the IPNC was hearing the fax tones- digitising them & then regenerating them at the other end of the link (at max volume of course). The cure - disable the speaker on the fax machine.
