We've deployed UC Advanced and are having one small issue. The client can login, and it shows them online for about 30 seconds before placing them offline. During this time they can make calls using the dialer.

I checked the help and this is mentioned but talks about callaboration servers (which they don't have) and that teh presence server is running and can be contacted. I'm not sure how I can do this.

Is this the only client that this occurs on? or is it happening to a bunch of users?

I've tested two clients, one on a windows XP machine the other on a Windows terminal server. Both suffer the same symptoms. I would put money on the rest being the same.

So is UC setup in this environment to run and be accessed over a terminal server rather than the client being loaded on the individual workstations?

Yes, but we're not sure if it will work so this is a trial for now. The documentation for UC Express states that Terminal Sessions are supported, but UC Advanced neither denies or confirms that it supports TS. We're happy to try on a workstation for now, but even that doens't work so it's got to be a config issue. We've done PBX sync and Active Directory sync, neither work.

Call has been logged with Mitel this morning, still no response. I think they might be having trouble with it.

I'll post a solution when I know one.

Are you refering to UCA3.0 or 2.0? How exactly is it showing off line, the chat? I have installed several customers on the 3.0 without any issues. Is the client trying to connect via IP address or FQDN? I prefer FQDN.

UCA 3.0, it offline is shown in the top of the windows with the picture of the phone. When is classed as online (in office) I can put numbers in the dial box ans use it. When its offline that option is gone. So I don't think its just chat.

Customer should only be connecting via FQDN which is resolvable via DNS.

Knowledge is power, thats why we share!

It is and fqdn is reachable from both devices.

I ran into the same problem. Ended up reinstalling the UC server to make it work.

I wish it was that simple, UC server and pc's have been rebooted. No joy!
I've been checking the UCC and SIPRegistration logs on the clients, I appear to be having SIP registration problems, not sure if it's related or not. I've also tried the following:
I’ve unlicensed Dynamic Presence and run the client setup wizard on the client and turned off dynamic presence with Outlook calendar integration. I can now see a static list of various status in the client. However the status window still goes offline of its own accord. So it doesn’t appear to be the dynamic status that’s the problem.
I’ve also removed other features from the policy including presence, chat, visual voicemail and WLM integration. I’ve changed presence setting for the user to on-demand also. This does not cure the issue.

update on what we did here.
restart didn't fix it, we reloaded the server as webmany also commented.

it really is working now!

I also ran a trace and saw that when it went off line there were sip register messages.

right, I'll start rebuilding now........*sigh*

Out of interest where have you placed your UC server, Mitel IP range or Data Network IP range?

Re-install resolved it...WHY?.....who knows!

However I did install the blade manually from ISO instead of letting it download. But thats about it.

server is voice range but obviously clients are on the data range....

what IP range are you using. am using 192.168.4.x for data and 192.168.6.x for voice. Class B subnet

I've gone for the opposite. The UC server is on the LAN range and I've be careful to ensure both network segments can see each other.
