Don't know how many of you are prepping for the DST change, but we found this helpful in my shop. We have a bunch of 2000 servers that haven't been replaced with 2003 yet, and Microsoft's solution for changing the DST settings is through the registry. They don't mention the TZEDIT.EXE that is part of the Windows 2000 Server Admin Pack. It provides a simple GUI to make the change, and is much quicker and easier than busting out regedit on all your servers.

The method that a company will use is really dependent on the number of systems that need to be updated. If you have a large number of systems then using GPO which pushes out registy updates and forces refresh via script is the way to go.

You are incorrect in stating that Microsoft does not mention TZEDIT.

I stand corrected. Microsoft does mention it. Shortly after I originally made this post, I read a post about the IntelliAdmin tool, which is much quicker and easier than even the TZEdit tool. Better for smaller networks, but epecially nice because of the uninstall feature since the duration of this change is unknown.

I have used the IntelliAdmin tool and it seems to work really well. I have updated all of my servers and many of my clients and then I also run teh TZEdit just to view that the change was made.
