here's my setup.

ISP router = public x.x.x.105
Usable public IPs= x.x.x.106-110

tz170 firewall = public x.x.x.106/private 192.168.1.1
server1 (ad/dns/dchp)= private 192.168.1.10
Server1 is a dhcp server that hands out 192.168.1.100-200

1.Is there anything I need to setup in NAT,INTERFACES,ROUTING.

2.I've used wireless wizard several times. going through it, I give WLAN both an internal ip such as 192.168.1.5 and also i tried giving it a public ip such as x.x.x.110. with the proper subnet. it didnt work.

3.As for dchp. does the wlan have to use the sonicall as dchp or can it go to my server1 for it? what do u recommanded or dhcp? what ranges do you guys recommanded if i use the sonicall?

i also got the client to work where i am able to connect onto the tz170. but i was getting a public IP. no internet connection though. mostly it's getting stuck now where it cannot aqcuired an address and has no connectivity.

4.By the way. As for right now, I just need clients to connect and get internet connectivity. I do not need them to get on my server1 network for resources. what is the safest route to go about this?

any help would be appreciated, thanks
ky

The TZ170 wireless WLAN runs on a different address range than the LAN (default is 172.16.31.x, wireless gateway 172.16.31.1. It cannot run on the same subnet as the lan. If you are running DHCP on your lan, that's fine. You should then turn off DHCP on the SW lan side. It is not necessary to run DHCP on the WLAN either if you want to run static IPs for your wireless clients, but you need to configure them accordingly.

I would reset your SW back to its defaults and start over. You can then configure the LAN to your existing network. All you need for that is to assign it an IP, which should match your scope options on the server ( you stated before 192.168.1.1, which is fine- assuming your LAN shows this as gateway IP). For the WLAN, if you want DHCP, you configure it for WLAN range. The default WLAN IP of 172.16.31.1 is the default gateway for the WLAN. No need to change this. Under DHCP, enable it for WLAN, and it will assign a range of IPs matching the user count of your TZ170 (10/25/unlim). In the WLAN dhcp configuration, you can then choose to set DNS servers manually, where you would enter the IP of your internal DNS server. You can also enter WINS here as well. Now, wireless clients will receive an IP in the 172.16.31.x range; use 172.16.31.1 for their gateway; and use your LAN DNS server for resolution.

If you want to set static wireless IP's and turn off WLAN DHCP, then your wireless clent TCP/IP properties would be IP: 172.16.31.2-254; Sub mask 255.255.255.0; gateway 172.16.31.1; DNS <IP of your lan DNS server>.

This is great, just what I needed to see however any wireless user can't contact the Exchange Server or other network resources back at the home office. SonicWall there is a Pro 2000. Do I need to install the GVC? Note: I did try that and still could not access network resources. Any advise? Thanks!
