typing is really slow 1

We are working on a 300 page catalog. Right now in the chapter we are in (60-page book), it is very hard to type anything because you type then have to wait for it to come up on screen. This doesn't happen in any other applications and we've never had this problem before. It doesn't show that the file is corrupt, it prints fine to the printer. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.
using mac g4, dual processor, quark 6.5, mac os x

Try starting a new project with the catalog closed. Can you type OK in that? If so, I'd guess the file size is bogging down the machine. Try breaking the file into smaller chapters.

Try this: Remove the Vista.xnt from the Quark xtensions folder (ound in the Quark Application folder) to the Disabled Extensions folder and restart. It solved some slow problems on my Mac.

Thank you for the tip about disabling that xtension! You just saved us from hours worth of time waiting for our catalog text to appear. It worked wonders!

create a folder inside Quarkxpress folder under applications name it "Preferences" make sure "P" is in upper case

i am using Quark Express 4.1 , and i have lost the serial number. I recently had to run a full recovery and therefore needed to reinstall Quark, but obviously can not do so as i don;t have the serial number. Could you help me please.

This appears in the wrong forum.

If you have a registered copy of Quark, you just need to contact Quark with your proof of purchase, name, etc.. They should have a record of it and can then send it to you.
