We've switched from Outlook Express to Outlook (Office 97). I cannot seem to find the feature from Express that when I type the first few letters of a name from my address book in the email form it would fill in the rest automatically. Is this feature available in outlook?

Thanks in advance.

John

Perhaps not in 97, John. It is the worst of the Outlook versions in all areas.

Anyway, start typing a name and then hit ctrl-k for a list of any addies that contain that string of letters. I believe this does work in 97, but can't be sure. Brainbench MVP for Microsoft Word

You do have this option in '97 but you have to turn it on. Go to Tools, Services and select the Addressing tab. In the "When sending mail, check names from these address lists..." box, click on the Add button, and add the address books that you want automatic name checking. This will allow you to key any part of a name that makes it unique, and Outlook will pop up the rest once you tab off the field. If you get the red wavy underline, it means more than one address meets the criteria you keyed. Right-click the name, and choose which address you want from the menu that pops up.
