Two SIP servers configured in one IPO system

Hello: It seems that I can add more than one SIP account/server to my IP Office SBE configuration but only if both SIP accounts have a different SIP server IP address. In my case I am using 2 SIP accounts from the same provider. How to configure?

if both need to register then you can add the 2nd account in the SIP Trunk as "Secondary Registration Account". In the URI tab you can also add a new URI and select "secondary" as the Registration.

If you need more than 2, then you will have to set up a trusted IP address rather than authentication.

I am not sure I understand correctly. I have received 2 SIP phone numbers/accounts from my internet provider. One of the SIP accounts is to be used when calling out to fixed line phone numbers in Europe, Canada and US as it is provided at a fixed rate and no costs per call. The other SIP account is linked to a very nice phone number and I want to use this for people to call me, but this SIP number/account is not activated for dailing out.

Both SIP accounts come from the same internet provider and have the same SIP server IP address. See screenshot for how one is configured:
My telecom provider doesn't know how to add the second and I do not want to give up. He says that the second SIP account cannot be added because the SIP server IP address is the same as the first SIP account already configured and that IP Office Manager won't allow you then to add another.

Hope my explanation helps and please be patient with me. Doing Avaya configurations is not my daily job :) but I do appreciate the opportunities offered by the IP Office.

Greetings from the Netherlands, Europe.

Your telecom provider is correct, you can't program 2 SIP trunks with the same ITSP details.

If you look at the SIP registration you will see Primary and secondary registration details. Put your 1st account as primary, 2nd as secondary. Both will then register.

In SIP URI Add 2 URIs, in the 1st set it to use Primary as registration and the 2nd set it to use Secondary.

In the URIs set the main SIP account to be e.g. Trunk Group 5, and the 2nd to use TG6.

Use TG5 for your outgoing and TG6 for incoming as you need.

Another alternative is to ask your provider to send the calls to SIP account 2 to the SIP account 1, therefore only 1 account needed. You will get a problem though if you need to route this SIP#2 differently than SIP#1, unless the provider sends in the DDI number/Account Name, and you can match the URI, but this is something your telecom provider should be able to configure.

Good luck!

They are right, only one IP address can be configured in one IPoffice. Most SIP providers have next to sip.provider.com a sip1.provider.com or a sip2....
Tried that but no reply on a ping.
You could call xs4all if they have a second SIP proxy.

Bas: only sip.xs4all.nl is supported, so one SIP proxy IP address.

How about using a CNAME in another domain, such as sip.bright55.com which links to sip.xs4all.nl. Would that work?

You could try, never done that.
Let us know if it worked.

Bas: I have a CNAME sip.bright55.nl which resolves to the same IP as sip.xs4all.nl, but do I also have to fill in the IP address? (see: In that case it gives a conflict as the IP address is the same for both sip.xs4all.nl and sip.bright55.nl, so physically I have to give in the same IP. Can I leave this IP part open? Will it suffice to only give in the hostname sip.bright55.nl?

Hmmm... interesting to lookup sip.xs4all.nl. Strange to find 3 IP addresses there. Technically this cannot be correct as one hostname resolves to 1 IP address only.

What are you trying to resolve?

The ipo can only handle one SIP/Proxy IP address in the whole config.
But if it is to get more than one incomming number to your ipo then ask xs4all if they put the numbers on the same username/password then you only need to add 1 or more SIP URI's. Just add a new SIP URI change the "Use Authentication Name" to the number you have got from xs4all and there you go. If i'm not mistaken there is a maximum of 20 URI's on 1 SIP line.

You could try to do do one to sip.xs4all and one to the ipaddress

Maybe they can put both numbers on you account ?

Last resort could be something like IP forwarding (e.g. Seems like a lot of trouble to get a second SIP account activated with same ITSP DOMAIN IP address.

It's not critical, but it would be lovely if this was solved.
Thanks anyways for all the suggestions here!

My WAV file conversion issue is more critical to me. Hope someone has time and is willing to help out on that one.

Thanks again for all the suggestions and tips.

I was already surprised to find someone on this forum look specifically into XS4ALL and Bas sounds to me like a Dutch name, so I figured it could be true that some Dutch people would be on this forum.

Look at where I describe my problem. I also posted there a direct link to the wavefiles.

My Telecom provider cannot solve it, so I am trying to get it solved while not being in the Avaya/Telecom business.

Thanks for the help!

I will answer there
ps my provider is xs4all :)

Taker: can you explain it in simpler terms that also a non-telecom person can understand. I am quite sure you might be right, but I do not understand what exactly I have to do to test it out, but would of course appreciate your help a lot.
