Its it possible to have two Signaling Servers for redundancy? Is it hard or complicated to set up?

Actually having 2 Sig servers in normal setup for the redundancy. No big deal with the setup.

what redundancy r u looking at .
a.We can have an primary TPS and an alternate TPS on load sharing basis
b. If u have NRS. Then we can have primary and alternate NRS.

Generally sites with more IP phones prepare ss with option (a)
We can configure one SS as leader and the other as follower.

Basically I was just looking at if the primary CS1000 would ever fail, the second CS1000 would take over.

What you are referring to is Call Server redundancy, and is available in the CS1000E-HA (High Availability) model.

You have 2 fully redundant call servers (one active, one standby), that mirror each other, and if one fails the other automatically takes over all call processing functions.

It depends. CS1000M could refer to several types of systems:

CS1000M MG - Used to be named Option 61C & 81C - both have redundant cores standard
CS1000M Cabinet or Chassis - Used to be named Option 11 or Option 11 Mini - No redundant call servers, but cabinets can be survivable.

We have an Opt 11. The main one is the Leader, can the other be setup as a follower incase the leader fails or won't that work?

Only your VoIP elements can be configured in a Leader/Follower configuation - Signaling Servers, and Media Cards.

Your Option 11 cabinets are all controlled by a single SSC card in the Main cabinet.

It is possible to convert any/all of your expansion cabinets to survivable cabinets. Survivable cabinets become standalone systems if the link to the SSC card in the Main cabinet is lost. Functionality is limited when in survivable mode. Generally you will not have access to voice mail, and the digital/analog phones in each survivable cabinet can only utilize trunks contained locally in the same cabinet.

There is a lot of downtime when a cabinet either enters survivable mode, or exits from survivable mode as well. The SSC card in the survivable cabinet reboots in case of a state change, after a watchdog timer expires.

For 2 CS1000m's to "take over" for each other you need to speak with your vendor about Geographic Redundancy. There are keycodes, licenses and special provisioning required.
