System: Legend r.4, Merlin Mail r.3 ('hang on the wall' version'

1) How do I increase the number of rings before the AA picks up the the line (trying to get an inline caller id to get the number before AA picks up on one ring).

2) Currently, when I pick up the phone on an inside extension, I hear an outside line dail-tone. How can I have the internal dial-tone sound at the tone and require a '9' or other digit prior to making an outgoing call?

Thanks in advance for any input.

1 - IN Lines and Trunks - set LS-ID Delay. That will fix that issue.

2 - Sounds like you have the lines appearing directly on the extensions. Put the lines in the 70 pool and make sure you can dial out with the 9, from SA/Intercom buttons.

You will want to double check that your VM Calling group still has the lines assigned once you put them in a pool.

Or, you could have your system set up to put out a dial tone that simulates an outside dialtone on an SA button. Go to SysProgram>Options>InsideDial and make sure Inside is highlighted, not outside.

Thank you for the quick response. I have a newbie question regarding the proposed solutions (please excuse my inexperience with the system...I aquired with no user mans or previous experience)...

MerlinMan: When going into Lines/Trunks->Set LS-ID Delay->Entry mode, it prompts me for the trunk number. Anything I enter seems to be invalid. I have three outside lines, plugged into ports 1-3 on a 408 GS/LS-MLX, in slot 01.

Aussie88: Thanks for your response, although this was not the case.

Are you using A 408 MLX GS/LS-ID If the ID is not on the card it does not support caller ID

ttech,

Thanks for your response. However, I am not trying to implement caller id within the system:

...trying to get an *inline* caller id to get the number before AA...

Thanks again

The assoiciated numbers would be 801, 802 & 803.

I think you would still have to implement Caller ID Delay as if you were trying to get it in the System, otherwise, if the AA answered before the 1 ring delay, you would clobber the ID info. - EVEN ON AN EXTERNAL - AHEAD OF THE SWITCH CALLER ID BOX !

Thanks merlinman,

The numbers 801-3 were what I thought to use, however the system does not ssem to accept these values when I enter them.

Regarding the caller id, how do i access the 'Caller ID Delay' feature - I have looked all over and cannot seem to find it. Is it possible it is not implemented on my release?

Thanks again.

Caller ID (number only) came out with the R3.0 legend but is was only available Via the 800 GS/LS ID card. It wasn't until the R7 that the MLX 408 GS/LS ID was recoginzed as a caller ID capable card, prevois releases could use it as a normal 408. (from page 2 of the R7 pocket reference)

ttech is quite right, you may just have to set the phones (or VM EXTENSIONS) up for RING DELAY, which would usually take about 3 rings.

We are now to the point of needing to know the release of your switch, and the cards you have in it.
