Have a Partner ACS Release 7 that any two extensions cannot get on the same outside line at the same time. None of the extensions have privacy or automatic privacy (Feature 310). I'm stumped.

What is the release? Feature 59 will tell you.

Some time back, a couple of years now, there was a manufacturing problem that caused the programming to default after a power failure, even with good AAA batteries installed.

A software patch was issued, which fixed the memory problem, but introduced always on privacy, even with Automatic Privacy #304 set to Not Assigned.

More recent patches eliminate that, and add even more features.

Is Smart Modular Technologies the only vendor that I can get a PCMCIA card from that will work with the Avaya upgrade releases for the Partner or "any" PCMCIA card ?

first things first
Feature (or #) 310 is VMS coverage and has nothing to do with privacy, #304 would be privacy. It should work as soon as you have the privacy off there is only the other options that the access is restricted entirely and then one extension can't access the line at all.

second for your PCMCIA card question
you should start a new thread for an entirely new question unrelated

Yes your are correct on the #310. I was relying on "memory" to rememember (a senior moment) the privacy code featue of #304.

Also thank you on the new thread. Have posted it.

still no go when the privacy was not assigned??did you check the restrictions for the lines?

My release is PACS R7.0 91F

Thank you. Hopefully I will have the card here by Friday?

A quick work around until you get the patch is....from any telephone that want's to join a call in progress.. press intercom...dial 68 then the line number that you want to join...
Line 1 = 01
Line 2 = 02 etc.

This works great if a supervisor want's to listen to a station that's on a call to verify that the call is business related or personal...The lights on the sets will alternate red/ green/ red....

Kyleman.

Great feature! Thanks. So where does one find out about these "secret" back door features ?

Steve

that's no secret it is a busy line pickup and it is in the manual (somewhere deep in the guts of that horrible horrible manual), you can also pick up an idle line by just dialing 8 and the two digit line number. That they work in this case is probably just trial and error and Tek-Tips helps a whole lot.
I read every thread on Tek-Tips for Partners Magix and IP Office as well as the genreal telephony thread and I mark whatever I think might be helpful in the future or is out of the ordinary. It costs a bit of time every day to stay current but helps in the log run.

Upgraded to the latest and greatest release and all of my problems went away. Hair grew back and I feel 20 years younger too !!! Thanks to everyone that helped

seems the R7 is just one big messy bug heaven from the start until now.
They really dropped the ball on this product that was so reliable for years.
Good to hear that you grew hair again maybe I should recommend this to a friend of mine who has no hair left.

Cheers
