Two oracle databases in one report

I am bringing two oracle databases into one crystal (8.5) report. I find that if I bring in many tables from one database I can only bring in one table from the other. These two database DO work together and share a common (key) field which is what I am linking on, but once I bring a second table in I get the old dll error. Once I remove the second table I'm fine.

Doesn't matter which database I try on this "many to one situation".

Anyone have any advice?

Hi Melzer,
I'm not sure on what is causing this situation to occur. I am assuming you have already checked for the newest db drivers. A possible workaround for your issue would be to use linked subreports to bring the data in from the other db. Cheers,

Thanks roadkill.

I'm pretty sure my db drivers are up to date.

My problem with linked subreports is that I'm tracking records as they appear on both databases and I find that with sub reports I don't usually get that one-to-one result I need (e.g., doc.#, amount for the one database and doc#, amount on the other listed side by side on the report.

I just thought of another possibility to try. Are you connecting to your DB through odbc or native? you might want to try changing your db conn and seeing if this issue still occurs, or you may be able to have one native and once odbc conn to the tables.. there are several options to try using this method. Crystal's stance on using multiple Db's is of course using subreports (even recommends this with oracle).. but if you can't get it to work through that method, then you have to try whatever you can ;)
The crystal link concerning multiple db's is:

Hope this helps,

Can you let the database do the linking work instead of Crystal, i.e. create a view in the database of a table or dataset from the other? I have done this with SQL Server; don't know if it's possible in Oracle.
