Hi,
I have two 2507 routers in a home lab connected with a back to back cable on serial 0. I can ping from, and to, all computers and routers, but transfering a 1 meg file form one computer to another takes about 5 minutes.
This is what I have,

computer 1 = 10.10.10.4 255.255.255.0, Gateway 10.10.10.1
router 1 = Ethernet 0, 10.10.10.1 255.255.255.0
router 1 = Serial 0, 75.75.75.1 255.255.255.0
router 2 = Serial 0, 75.75.75.2 255.255.255.0
router 2 = Ethernet 0, 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0
computer 2 = 192.168.1.8 255.255.25.0 Gateway 192.168.1.1

Are back to back connections supposed to be this slow?
Thanks,

You might have set the clock rate on the DCE router too low. Set it to a higher rate as the 2507's serial ports theoretically supports T1 speeds (2Mbits/s).

Thanks oj88
The clock rate was set a 64000. I moved it up to 800000 by guessing at the numbers and it did help.
Does any one know the actual numbers to enter to get the maximum clock rate from the serial port on a 2507? If I enter more then 6 digits is says "unknown clock rate".
Thanks

I found this in an old post,
The available speeds are:
R1(config-if)#clock rate ?
Speed (bits per second)
1200
2400
4800
9600
19200
38400
56000
64000
72000
125000
148000
250000
500000
800000
1000000
1300000
2000000
4000000

I set mine to 2000000 and it worked. I said earlier that if I entered more then 6 digits it said "unknown clock rate". I don't know what I did wrong because this 7 digit number went just fine.

Thanks again to oj88

No problem. However, just to clarify things, I meant to say E1 (2Mbits/s) instead of T1 in my original post.
