Hi all,

I recently bought an xpc and it has tv/video out, I also bought an s-video to scart cable to link the pc to the tv. straight forward I thought...

I get a picture but it's only black & white? am I missing something obvious? or have I got the wrong cable?

thanks in advance

I would suggest that thee first thing you do is get the latest drivers for your Video Card and DVD if you have one and install them.

Good point and something I have now done.

Unfortunately this hasn't solved the problem...I have also found that I can plug the PC into the front of the TV using a s-video to standard male connector (yellow) but this doesn't help me in using the scart lead?

Someone said it might be a setting on the TV to enable NTCS ?? I guess it is PAL as standard?

Most TV's have a few different AV inputs. My Panasonic has 3 separate AV choices each one with an 'S' setting. One gives b+w output the other full colour. Check your TV manual thoroughly first to see if this might be the case for you.

thanks norty, I think you're right as I'm sure I got this working before I just don't know how. I'll check the TV settings again and see if something comes up.

Sound like a colour encoding issue, make sure your video out setting, is suitable for your TV. There are multiple PAL formats and NTSC formats

he he finally got it sorted :)

norty if you see this you were right...the problem was due to the scart junction box I was using. When I plugged the scart into the back of the TV and looked through all the channels I I got the SAV option and my PC is in full colour on my TV!

Sorted
