I am try to add mailboxes on the system with numbers that match the owner's extension numbers (i.e. mailbox 105 matched to extension 105). I have three such matches on the system and they have been working fine. I created mailbox 105 with no problems but when I try to assign extension 105 as the owner's extension I get an improper entry message. I get this with using either the direct rs-232 to the TVS or using the message manager's input via the phone. Any thoughts are appreciated.

does 105 have another mailbox attached to it?

Not at this time. I may have set something up in testing (a long time ago)but that would have been deleted.

you need to also chk the phone system make sure ext 105 hasnt been asigned a mailbox no:eek:ther than 105 during setup

also chk v/mail using rs232 delete any unused mailboxes xdp mailboxes may have been setup during intergration.

also what type phone system are you using??

Phone system is kx-td1232 (about 8 years old). Where would a mailbox be assigned in the system ksu? I'll double check the box info again to make sure everything not used is cleared out. Is there a possibility that there might be some latency of extension 105 in a deleted mailbox (in the TVS) that could cause this?

is 105 the operator on the phonesystem by any chance?

did you default the tvs per the manual and did do you do
a quick stetup for td 1232 intially? are you using
dpits integration?

also when I asked if 105 is the operator I did not
mean in system programing I meant in operator service
on the tvs if it is flaged as the operator 998 is automatically attached to that ext and you would not be able to have a personal box for 105 in that case.

Yes I did default the TVS per the manual and did quick set up when I installed the TVS about 3 years ago, and yes I'm using dpits integration.
On 105 being flagged for 998 I didn't set it up that way, but could that have happened automatically during the quick setup? How could I check to see if and what extension 998 is associated with?

connect
2 for vt 100- then 1-then-4-then-1 then 2 then- 1 then 1 for day operator

\ \ then 2 then 1 for night operator

note watch screens because I did this off a tvs 75
they may be different than what I show

you will need the phone system software to log into the system and chk extentions settings 2-3 to see what mailbok has been set for what ext
question
Is there a possibility that there might be some latency of extension 105 in a deleted mailbox (in the TVS) that could cause this?
yes a high chance

Checked system again and found absolutely no references to extension 105. Am I going to have to completely purge the TVS and start from scratch(don't want to), or is there another way?

I found the problem!!! The extension that I was trying to set up with a personal box had been previously assigned to a group mailbox. Once that extension number was deleted from the group list it became available for a personal extension. Thanks to both of you for your patience and advice.
