Hello all,

I have TVM50 VPS's at 7 sites, and recently I've started using them to automate call transfers off site, I've got them all setup and working with custom service menu's that send the EFA code to flash the line and transfer the call back out, but there's a lot of dead air on the line between the time the VPS announced "Please wait a moment" and the person picks up on the other end. Is there a way to have the system play through the ringback tone to the party that's being transfered, or at least our hold music or something similar so the caller knows something is happening and they haven't simply been disconnected?

in the sequence for transfer put D to disconnect. it should give ringing from the line to the caller. only thing is it is not supervised and will not pull the call back. since you are going back out on the same line it can't get any music or ringing from your system

Saying that we don't have that option of transferring on the same line here, so not sure if disconnecting before the person you are calling has answers will cause the call to drop

The Call Transfer Sequence is set to F*60TND

No call drop issues, but the ringtone still doesn't pass through to the caller. He or she just hears silence until the call is connected... I expected the disconnect to work as you describe as well but it doesn't seem to be.

You must not get a ring back from the telco, have you tried it manually transferring through the system to see if it is the same

When I attempt it manually, I as the operator doing the transfer can hear the second call ringing, but the person who is being transferred cannot. I guess the telco only joins to the 1 and 3rd party once the 3rd party connects.

I know including the D and disconnecting is the recommended route to keep ports free on the VPS, but if I were to omit that and monitor the transfer is there no way to have the pbx place the initial caller on hold or into a que table until the 3rd party picks up and then release it? - I'm having people hang up because they think they've been disconnected when in reality the transfer is going through fine..

I don't think so as you are using the same line it will be held at the telco end. you could add to the message or to a second tier voicemail before transferring giving a message saying there will be silence for a period before call is connected

Yes, that's what I've done. It's not ideal but I guess it's the best we can do.
