In a nutshell . . .
New box, have hooked up to test, no PBX integration.
I want to test the email message sending.
I am aware that there are MANY different things in this configuration that can go wrong.
I can call in and leave a message. I can call in and retrieve a message.
It does not seem to have any LAN activity (email send) after leaving a message.

The manuals have very little about settings and the like -

My question is this (I think) . . .
The TVA asks for an IP address for hte SMTP server but I'm sending out to the server of my ISP (SBC) and they don't give out an IP address. Is there a work around?

Thanks!

have not set one of these up yet and is late and not going to look thru the dox but maybe to get this to work you need to get a static ip from sbc or you may have to have a real mail server on your lan!!

Thanks cwc3 - you're always on the money.

Once again, I'm only hooking this up as a test before I install it onsite but for those wanting to test too, here's what I did.

I went to download.com and got a free email server (WorkgroupMail Mail Server 7.6.3) The TVA sends to the server on my computer and that server sends the mail out through the ISP's server. It's a workaround but with it installed the TVA50 sends out the messages easily.

A 36 second message created an attachmnet of 195KB.

The only downside is that my client will need to have a computer running at all times to act as the server. They are a small two computer operation. They got the TVA to go with their TDA100 so they can VOIP to their large office in Argentina.

Too bad Panasonic did not add an smtp server to the TVA box. Then all would be perfect.

Thanks again, cwc3!
