Turning Off Partner 18D Backlights 2

Does anyone know of any way to turn off or disable the backlight on a Partner 18D Display Phone?

Any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated!

You can't turn it off, but you can dim the backlight. Press ** then push the volume down key.

you only need to push to star button one and press the volume button, but the double star will work as well, as well, it will be as if the backlight disp is off on the lowest setting. You will only be able to tell in complete darkness.
