turning off console messages 6509 IOS

Getting a flood of aal5 messages (probably a hardware switch processor fault or port stuck - anybody seen/fixed this before) so cant get console command messages in, anybody any ideas ...set logging disable dont work.. telnet wont work router module locked...
dont want to switch off/reset just yet until Ive had a good look in...

Pull the faulty blade out if you can... That'll give you the chance to get back in and maybe see some log errors..

set logging console disable
will stop logging messages to screen

or
set module <x> disable

nope dont work, tried everything...I'm getting good at the many variations in commands...I'm on a 6509 IOS 12.01a, now if I had access to all the other IOSs to try I could write a book....another sh mmc ports dont work either...neither does no logging xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx but sh mmc port 0 1 etc does...I dont think in 20 yrs Ive seen such inconsistent documentation...still looking for the definitive CLI guide though with examples of every known parameter...still its nice and warm in here and nearly Christmas..

Oh, I didn't realize you were running IOS. A good reference is:

try
show module

to disable it you're going to have to
config t
interface <x>
shutdown

to stop the messages to
telenet session:
no terminal monitor
console
no logging console

or you can set the console to only display messages of higher importance

logging console <level 1-7>

All my 6500's have CLS so I don't have any experience with its particular IOS but these are the usual commands. Hope this helps.

many thks...

the set logging console disable works when I telnet or plug the serial cable/console onto the switch...however its the router module where the aal5 faults are being a pain but I'm getting there, I now consider the fault to be hardware inthe switch/processor Controller0...
