I hesitate but I am a risk taker!
I offer you a chance to play a game. The rules are simple. There are 100 cards, face down. Of the cards, 55 say "win" and 45 say "lose!"
Although the problem doesn't say I assure you that the table is not clear glass etc. The problem IS the problem.

You begin with a bankroll of $10,000. You must bet one-half of your money on each card turned over, and you either win or lose that amount
based on what the card says. At the end of the game, all cards have been turned over. How much money do you have at the end of the game?

==> Then why don't they call the spoiler tag spoil?
I'm not sure there is a mathematical answer to that puzzle.

Thanks Cajun for the lessons.
I was brave on my first try at the code listing thing for my 2 lines of code, so I read the directions before I tried. I read:

"Note: When posting programming code, surround the code with the
Code:
tags. "

So thats what I did, like THIS!

Code:
line one of code

line two of code
Code:

Now I realaize it should :

Code:
 Your code lines here...

Now I am ready to become a lawyer!

SidYuca, if you want a card puzzle with a challenge I recommend thread1551-1604876

Try not to look at the answers first. (although there is debate on which answer is correct)

Thank's for the tip. I read all of the puzzle posts a couple of weeks ago. It was that happening that encouraged me to participate.
For me there is no debate ..2/3.

>although there is debate on which answer is correct

There's no debate

Strongm - I agree that there is only one correct answer and that you and I agree on that answer (as well as SidYuca) but there are others that do not agree and they are/were definitely debating. (They remain unconvinced for reasons I can not explain)

Sorry for this thread steering away from the topic but am I not understanding the meaning of the word debate as it is being used by others.

Debate to me does not require 1 side or the other to be right or wrong. Debate occurs when there is disagreement between parties and then debate occurs with each party trying to prove their case.

I do not consider the answer in that other thread to be debatable. That being said, others disagree with the answer and were never convinced otherwise. As a result, there was debate. This does not mean that the majority answer was wrong but simply that the answer was not universally accepted.

BTW - @OLAF, I am rereading some of my responses to you and they sound very alien to me. I have no idea what I was thinking. Let me take this opportunity to say sorry for being a PITA. (Pain in the ...)

No need to apologize, I had a bit anger way back then, but I also thought of it as an interesting debate, otherwise I would have opted out earlier.

And I accept your apology with pleasure.

Bye, Olaf.
