Turn off the sound

Hi all.
I would like to turn off the sounds made during running of my application, say when user clicks on a "Save" button, or an information message is displayed. I've tried adding SET BELL OFF to my startup program but this doesn't seem to make any difference.

SET BELL only affects the sound made by VFP when you hit the end of a field or when you enter illegal data. The sound made when a MessageBox pops up is controlled by the user's Window's Sound Scheme.

There are API calls to suppress this but many users get very annoyed when applications meddle with these Windows settings.

I agree with Geoff. Let the user decide if they want sound or not. They can make the choice in Control Panel.
